Cancer Clinical Trials

Founded in 1997, the Coalition of Cancer Cooperative Groups (COCCG) has a single overarching mission: to improve the quality of life and survival of patients by increasing participation in clinical trials.

The Coalition is a nonprofit organization that represents the interests of patients with cancer and the physicians who care for them. These physicians—plus other dedicated scientists and research staff—conduct clinical trials through the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN).

COCCG’s members are the five NCI–sponsored cooperative groups, representing thousands of oncology providers and cancer research specialists. These individuals support and conduct practice-changing cancer research across a diverse network of sites, from small rural clinics to large urban academic medical centers. This broad geographic reach facilitates access to much-needed clinical trial options for patients with less common cancers, and for those often underrepresented in clinical trials.

Additionally, COCCG collaborates with the country’s leading patient advocacy organizations in pursuit of a shared mission to promote patient access to clinical trials. The Coalition also partners with the health care industry to facilitate cancer clinical trials in both the public and private sectors.
